On Oct 23, 2025 the Durand volleyball team played Pecatonica in their last conference game, which also happened to be senior night. The girls came out on top and earned the title of undefeated conference champions and advanced to regionals. The night was emotional for families and friends because it was the seniors last conference game.
“I’ve been playing volleyball for eight years. I’m gonna miss it so much and I’m gonna miss this past season’s team the most,” senior Emily Quine said.
The volleyball team this year had a very close relationship. The friendships impacted them on and off the court.
“The close relationship among the team makes a huge impact on the season, not only does it create good friendships, but it makes the season so special. It also helps us win games in stressful situations,” junior Maddy Moore said.
The close relationships also made it harder to say goodbye. Senior night was especially hard for the team this year.
“Senior night was so hard. It made me feel so sad! It makes you appreciate your friendships on a different level and it also makes you realize to not take time for granted, you have to soak in the time with the people you love before it’s gone,” Moore said.
It was especially hard for the Quine sisters because it was the last time they would ever play a conference game together. Amber Quine joined varsity as a freshman and has enjoyed playing volleyball with her sister for two years.
“Playing with my sister impacted me a lot because she had always helped me with different skills and helped teach me,” sophomore Amber Quine said.
The volleyball team created so many memories and had a great season together. The closeness of the team helped them succeed throughout the season, and eventually led to them being undefeated in conference for the first time since the 2019-2020 season.
“Playing on a team that was as close and as supportive as they were was one of the greatest gifts I’ve ever been given,” Emily Quine said.
