Ever since students and staff can remember, both the football and volleyball players of Durand have engaged in a toilet papering war against one another. However, this season was unforgettable due to more than just toilet paper being used.
The 2025 toilet papering war officially began on September 1, when the volleyball girls struck first.
During the early morning hours of September 1, the girls targeted three houses on their first night. Using excessive amounts of toilet paper, plastic silverware, string, flour, and glitter, the girls successfully covered each property they hit.
A little over a week later, the football team struck back. During the night, they toilet-papered two of the girls’ houses and covered one of the girls’ cars with sticky notes. The following morning, those girls woke up to white trees, white grass, glitter, and sequins lying everywhere.
The following Friday night, on September 13, the volleyball team came together once again. That night, the team hit three more houses and successfully pranked one of the guys. Using toilet paper they saved from their own yards and trees, the girls completely covered their targets’ houses, trees, and yards.
Throughout the war this year, the football team revealed a new tactic. On many toilet papering occasions, many of the guys would throw water balloons, toilet paper, hot dogs, and baloney at the girls’ house early in the night.
Not only were their houses unsafe this year, but the girls’ cars were targeted as well. If left unlocked, the guys would dump large amounts of glitter, sequins, toilet paper, and rubber bands all over the inside of the cars.
As the toilet papering war was coming to an end, the football team struck for their final time. During the night before homecoming week began, a group of football players completely covered trees, houses, pots, fences, and posts with toilet paper and paper towels. That morning, a few of the girls awoke to find their property covered in white.
To end the 2025 toilet papering war, the volleyball team came together one last time towards the end of October. Using the darkness of night, they successfully toilet-papered three final houses using the rest of their supplies they gathered throughout the season. Large trash bags full of toilet paper, string, streamers, silverware, and caution tape were strung, thrown, tied, and dumped everywhere, officially closing out the season.
